Drivetrain? Whats that...

Uh Owe...... Santa brought a drive train home for Christmas! I see sub 40 min laps at Krug in my future...

Well, as soon as someone can teach me how to use them... I will have to get re-acquainted with this whole shifting thing... And don't worry, I am not going entirely away from singlespeed, so you can keep your remarks to yourself...
In the meantime I will do my best to not let these gears turn me into a sissy boy......

Anyone know of where I can find a nice light 29er hartail frame that won't break the bank? I love my Surly Karate Monkey, but it is a TANK at 5 lbs plus....

Weekend Riding

Was a great weekend for riding... Headed out for a bit on Sunday and on my usual route, I decided to jump into corby N. and hopefully make some fresh tracks....
Come to find out I wasn't the first one there... Jimbo beat me there...Owe well, I still love riding single track on some fresh snow...

Well enough with the Ansel Adams BS! Took off after my Sunday stroll in the woods to the hills of the north end... There are still races left after all.....

This is Broadway, the pic does not do it justice... Hurts so good!

Aaaaaah.....

That's much better!
Got out my heavy duty gloves...
Got out my booties!
And got a nice ride in.... Felt really good... Well kinda, the temp was not that bad, actually almost had too much gear on...
The problem was taking all those days off, had me climbing the little hills like a weight challenged non adult, (hard breathin fat kid).... I even took the easy route...

Newtons Law of Motion = A body at rest wants to stay at rest..
Voigts Law of Motion = Sit on your arse for a couple of days and drink some IPA's and your going to be slower than that dude you see on the trails with a huffy and a skateboard helmet....

I am just not one of those dudes that can jump off the couch and kill it... I hear stories about dudes that can do it.. I have to ride.. And ride often..

Hopefully I will feel good after a couple of days... Till then, peace!

I need to win a race where there handing these bad boys out!!!

P.S. Would someone tell me how much quality riding they are doing....

No Races til the 31st.....

THIS SUCKS!

Man I hate the off season... I know its coming, no racing in sight and I am out freezing my arse off training outside in January because I HATE trainers... My fingers hurt just thinking about them freezing out there.. I found you can keep pretty warm til it gets about 10-15 degrees or colder... If it drops lower than that just do some cross fit, which I think sucks even more! HTFU huh? Yah, your right...
Im going to have to in order to keep up with my new teammates anyway...

The biggest trouble with the off season is losing focus.. I need races to spark a fire if you will... Without them, its too easy to have that extra beer(s) or eat out again... Wait, nevermind about the beer... The food anyway...

I read and did a trial run of  "racing weight" by Matt Fitzgerald this fall for CX and I am very optimistic about MTB this summer.
In a few short months (literally, 2 months) I went from a kinda lean 182lbs (where I raced most of 2010 on a MTB, actually prob a little heaver) to winning my first ever Cross race at 173lbs. Also just missed the podium in the 3's on my SS... This is coming from mid pack in the 4's a year before. I am sold to say the least.... The master plan is to re-coup a little in Jan and Feb.. But not too much, I wont get over 180 an then its business time... (you want to click on that one) Back to hard core training and 160-165 for the MTB season...

Peace!
